Daxianglin (Great Forest of Fragrance)
Daxianglin rural leisure holiday resort, situated in Keyan Holiday Resort, Jian Lake, Shaoxing County, enjoys a favorable location—beside the famous Guiji Mountain and Jian Lake and in the middle of Hangzhou and Shaoxing. Within an area of 4 sq. km., the Resort consists of two parts with distinctive characteristics. The first part is rural leisure zone including Kong Shan Fan Yin (Buddhist Sound Circling the Spacious Mountain), Xiang Lin Hua Yu (Flower Rain in the Fragrant Forest), Hua Qian Yue Xia (Under the Moon and Flowers), Zhu Hai Tian Feng (Heavenly Wind Sweeping the Bamboo Sea) and You Gu Qing Yun (Clear Rhythm Echoing the Peaceful Valley). The second part is Buddhist cultural zone centered on Buddhist temples, such as: Tempe of Avalokitesvara, Temple of Samantabhadra, Temple of Manjusri, Temple of Kstigarbha, Temple of Wenchan and Wanfo Ge (Pavilion of Buddha). With the characteristics of “Fragrance”, Daxianglin is one of the biggest rural leisure holiday resorts in Zhejiang Province combining delicacies, health care, and Buddhist worship.
The Resort attracts the tourists with a pleasant climate and picturesque scenery: luxuriant trees, winding lucid streams and gratifying fragrance throughout the year. However, what is the most outstanding are osmanthus trees of thousands of years old in a wide stretch of land. And it is really a magnificent view that their fragrance spreads far and wide, which was recognized by the Chinese expert team of the UNESCO Plant Listing as the osmanthus forest of the largest scale and longest history in the world. Besides, several age-old temples: Xianglin Temple (Temple of Fragrant Forest), Baolin Temple (Temple of Treasured Forest) and Jijing Temple (Temple of Solitude) are standing among the high rising peaks of Baolin Mountain (Mountain of Treasured Forest). With Buddhist sounds, morning bells and coiling incense smoke, many men of letters in history visited the site and wrote some great poems and essays.
